[EN] SQL Server 2012 SP3 Cumulative Update #1 is available!

Two update packs has been released by Microsoft for SQL Server stack. Second package is for SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 3. In this Cumulative Update No 1 {build no 11.0.5644.2} Microsoft fixed seven bugs – all for SQL Service – listed below.

This update (VSTS BUG: 5285700 | 321185) introduces a new global property that exposes the latest CU number that is currently installed on the SQL Server. After you install this update, you can obtain the CU number information by executing either of the following queries:

          SELECT @@VERSION
          SELECT SERVERPROPERTY(‘PRODUCTUPDATELEVEL)

Additionally, this update also adds the CU number information to the first line of the SQL Server error log.

Microsoft has recommended to test all hotfixes before updating in production environment. More information about this release You can find with the article: Cumulative Update 1

You may have to restart the computer after you apply this cumulative update. If you use any hybrid technology, such a Replication, AlwaysOn, Clustering:  If you do not want to use the rolling update process, follow these steps in order to apply a CU or SP: step1: Install the service pack on the passive node / step2: Install the service pack on the active node (This step requests servicerestart).

[EN] SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 3 is available!

LOGO__SQLServer2008SP3Long awaited Service Pack 3 for Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 is available from last week. This Service Pack 3 (build number 10.50.600.34) include whole previously published updates for Service Pack 2 and up to Cumulative Update 13. And it is the last update for this platform, Microsoft will not release any Cumulative Update for Service Pack 3.

You cand download this update form Microsoft Download Centre and you can get two files (for x86 and x64 platforms):

More important notes from producer:

  • We are not releasing  SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Service Pack 3 refresh.
  • This Service Pack will not be available on Microsoft Update. To facilitate the deployment on your side you could either use custom rules in SCCM or local publishing in WSUS as explained here.
  • Slipstream technology is not available for SQL Server 2008 R2. To slipstream a SQL Server 2008 R2  with Service Pack 3 please see this post .

In this Cumulative Update No 16 (build no 10.00.5852.00) – I hope that is the last and highest number – for SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 3, Microsoft released… only two fixed bugs.
