[EN] Self Training BI? With SQL Server 2012? Why not!

SQL_2012_Desktop_Background_1680x1050_101111Another one nice news for all folks familiar with SQL Server (especially 2012 edition) and Business Intelligence (especially free for training). About one month ago (at Feb. 10th) Microsoft has published new virtual machine for “Self-Training BI”. In 42 files and almost 30 GB (in downloaded files) You can start your new full training environments, like Microsoft said:

The Base ImageX Server is a virtual machine that allows a user to test out the latest Business Intelligence features of SQL Server 2012 – RC0; including PowerView reports and PowerPivot Excel Documents.

But of course live is hard, and requirements for BI Image X: SQL 2012 RC0 and for this training too:

  • Supported Operating Systems: Windows 7
  • Windows Server 2008 SP2 with Hyper-V Role installed
  • 8GB ram allocated to the BI ImageX VM
  • Minimum 80GB hard drive space – 250GB recommended
  • Minimum 1 Virtual Processor allocated to the BI ImageX VM – 2-4 Processors Recommended
