ComeToIGNITE

In early June I decided to send my session submission for Microsoft Ignite 2016. I didn’t expected to be selected (based on stories how many fantastic speakers – means much, much better than my person – will be there), but… it happend. Few weeks ago I got confirmation, that my session has been selected. Later got a link for registration as speaker. Than I booked flights from United Kingdom (where I actually live). This is a trip which is very, very interesting for me. Not only because of being selected as speaker for biggest Microsoft IT Conference in the world. Not onlybecause beeing 1of  840 speakers.

It’s also interesting because I never been in United States. Yes, it could be strange for many (and it is) of my inernational friends, but as I explained several times in offline discussions:

  • first – as always I need to have a reason to go
  • second – having polish citizenship (aka: Poland is our big friend) requires visa

Now I have a business visa, which should solve mayor problem and of course have confirmation, invitation and full of papers helping to cross US Border. The route which I choose fort his trip is simple – before and after MS IGNITE going to visit some places and frinds in Florida district (connection to Miami is pretty good). never been there, so any directions will be good for me. I’m very, very sure that I will be able to improve my English (in that case American English) skills – meeting with Karla {TWITTER} and Rodney {TWITTER} – and of course improve my Spanish laguage skills spending few days with my friend Elias {TWITTER}. Of course I’m quit sure to meet more friends arround the world and few folks which I never meet in person (we know each other just in online level).

Finally few words about my session:

  • full time breakout session (75 minutes)
  • Tueasday 27th of September,
  • 12:30-01:45 PM,
  • room A311-A312

Secure your data at rest – on demand, now!
The new release of Microsoft SQL Server: SQL Server 2016 brings new functionality for Data Security Professionals. Now you can protect your data in your database anywhere (on-premise, in the cloud, even in the hybrid environment) even more simply than before. Transparent Data Encryption with better algorithms and better support for backup, Row-Level Security and AlwaysEncrypted for your application, and Dynamic Data Masking  are now simple features. We focus on hard theory and of course, on demos. We look a little closer for few specific files that exist in our environment. We work on all three different environments, but our goal is only one: protect your data.

In summary one word: EXCITED!

PS.1 I will write more about icrosoft Ignite in last decade of September on my blog.

PS.2 I will not present from Surface (look picture) ‘cos I don’t have any.

I will be one of the panelist in special Conference Video Studio where we will discuss about security arround Data Platform. I’m not sure about NDA of othe panelists – but I’m sure that I can announce our host – mein Freund aus Deutschland Herr Andreas Wolter {MVP, MCM, MCSM from Sarpedon Quality Labs}.

SQL Konferenz 23rd-25th February logistics:

See You in Darmstadt!

[EN] Reminiscence Boulevard: Belfast SQL User Group

Friday evening after one hour bus trip (with UlsterBus), fifty minutes flight (with EasyJet) and almost three hours train trip (with EastMidlandsTrains) I back to home. Twenty eight hours earlier I landed in Belfast, where I went for invitation by Ryan Dickson {LINKEDIN}. Ryan is a leader of Belfast SQL Server User Group {PASSsite|Eventbrite} I have never been there, the group looks interesting, so based on previous talks with Ryan I decided to go…

IMG_5821Being MVP, member of PASS and Community Leader  – I have not only privileges, but obligations too. One of it is kind of ‘evangelization’. With Ryan we decided to showing and explaining for their members how Windows Azure SQL Database works. About twenty five people registered for this meeting and probably all came. We spend two hours, magically extended to almost three (hope that Ryan’s wife forgive us) discussing and playing around Windows Azure SQL Database, SQL Server 2016, Windows Azure Blob Storage, coloured management studio tabs, security and more.

I’m very proud and happy to deliver this session. Trip was a little annoying and stressful from time to time (eg, with NationalExpress delay to Gatwick Airport), but finally I had fantastic time and got new experience. Especially with significantly different accent of my Northern Ireland’s audience.
